Your Hides Hotel Cairns questions, answered

Where is Hides Hotel located?
Hides Hotel Cairns is at 87 Lake Street, right in the heart of the Cairns CBD (Cairns QLD 4870). The Esplanade and Lagoon are under a 5-minute walk, the Reef Fleet Terminal is under 10 minutes away, and Rusty’s Markets are just across the road.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 2:00pm and check-out is by 10:00am. Arriving early or leaving late? Storage lockers are available so you can explore Cairns hands-free.
Is a deposit required at check-in?
We take a $100 pre-authorisation on a valid credit card at check-in — not a charge. A pre-authorisation is a pending transaction that holds the amount on your card; provided the room is left undamaged, it is simply released after check-out and disappears from your account. Because no money actually leaves your account, there is no refund to look for on your statement.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is 24 hours, and it applies across all booking channels — whether you book direct or through a third-party website.
Are pets allowed at Hides Hotel?
No — pets are not permitted at Hides Hotel.
Is there a minimum age to check in?
Yes — by law, guests must be at least 18 years old to check in.
What room types does Hides Hotel offer?
We offer classic heritage rooms, more spacious premium rooms, and long-stay accommodation, all in a central CBD location. Browse our rooms to compare options and bedding configurations.
How do I get the best rate?

Is breakfast available at Hides Hotel?
Yes — a continental breakfast is served daily from 6:30am to 9:00am. You can pre-book before arrival or arrange it at check-in, and it is worth asking reception about current breakfast offers and discounts.
Does Hides Hotel have free WiFi?
Yes — free Wi-Fi is included for all guests throughout the hotel.
Is there a guest laundry?
Yes — a guest laundry is available on site, handy for longer stays and reef-day washing.

How far is Hides Hotel from the Great Barrier Reef boats?
The Reef Fleet Terminal is under a 10-minute walk from our front door. Operators such as Sunlover Reef Cruises depart daily for the outer reef, Green Island and Fitzroy Island. Check current reef conditions with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Can reception help me book tours and reef trips?
Yes — our reception and tour desk can help with local tips and bookings for reef trips, day tours and attractions across Tropical North Queensland.
When is the best time to visit Cairns?
Cairns is a year-round destination, but the cooler, drier winter months (roughly May to October) are the most popular, with warm sunny days and excellent reef visibility. Humpback whale season runs mid-July to early September. For what is on, see Tourism Tropical North Queensland or our monthly Cairns guides.
